WHAT'S COMING UP IN 2024

Some exciting things will be happening at Quilts On Main starting in January.

  • The 2nd Thursday of each month we will be having a "Sip and Sew".  If you need help with a project or just don't want to sew alone, come join us, bring your coffee, machine and project and sew with us. We may even have some goodies for you.

  • We are working on a location for the sewing club.  As soon as I have it I will let you know.  We will make quilts for the warming shelter and other charities around town that are in need.
  • The Southwest Virginia Shop hop will be going on again this year.  Stay tuned for more information as we will be holding our planning meeting in January.

  • We are also going to be a part of the Mid-Atlantic Shop Hop which will cover West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey during July and August.  We are very excited to be a part of this amazing opportunity.

SOME QUILTING TIPS AND TRICKS (from the Crafty Quilter)

  • Precise cutting is essential
  • Precise seams are a must so that when you go to assemble your quilt everything will match up just right and will eliminate frustration
  • Starch your fabric before you cut (but don't starch precuts).  Starching will give you a more accurate cut and your piecing will be more accurate
  • Don't Wing It - It may take a little extra time to use pins but you won't regret it.  Pinning before you sew will give you more accurate seams by keeping your edges even
  • Your seam ripper can be your best friend so don't be afraid to use it
  • Trim each subunit to the correct size for accurate assembly
  • Press, Press, and Press all of your seams (whether open or to the side) and use a clapper to make them really flat
  • Make sure your seams meet accurately and pin before you sew

We still have all of our seasonal (Hallowee, Fall, and Christmas) items on sale at 40% off.  These include, fabric, patterns, and kits.

Roxanne and I wish you a very Happy, Healthy, and Blessed New Year!  We can't wait to see all of you in 2024 and we thank you for your suppor since we opened!
